SHAGGY SAYS SCAMMER IMPERSONATING HIM

Shaggy says an online scammer is impersonating him
‘It wasn’t me.’

Shaggy is once again saying “it wasn’t me,” but this time it has nothing to do with infidelity.

In an Instagram post, the singer is trying to convince fans that he is not behind fake accounts trying to scam them out of their money.

Shaggy wrote that he was made aware of online scammers posing as him and messaging his fans to insist that they owe him money.

“I would like to make it clear that these are nothing more than an internet scam. They are not from me nor do they represent me in any way,” he wrote. “It saddens me that this has become our reality and that innocent people are being dragged into this ridiculousness. My best advice is to please not engage with these fake accounts. Thank you. One love to all my wonderful fans.”

It is unclear whether or not the swindlers have so far been successful at stealing money or not, but at least Shaggy’s warning will make fans think twice before engaging with any account using his likeness.

For those who want to see the real Shaggy in action, he is set to play Sebastian in ABC’s upcoming The Little Mermaid Live!, which has already inspired an onslaught of memes.
