Shortwood Teacher’s College Principal Dr Christopher Clarke was this morning fined $2 million to be paid within the next two weeks.
Failure to do so would result in him serving 12 months behind bars. His driver’s license was also suspended for 12 months.
Clarke was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving on February 20 following a March 16, 2014 crash, which claimed the life of Yvonne Brown along the Old Harbour main road in St Catherine.
Brown was a pillion on a motorcycle, which collided with the vehicle driven by Clarke.
During the trial, Clarke testified that poor lighting along the main road caused the crash. However, the crown said he was driving in a reckless manner, which led to the mishap.
so….a person’s life is only worth this? wow. I wonder how much an “ordinary Joe” would’ve gotten for this same incident.
This is not justice, so if you have some money you will walk away free and if you dont have money then you go to jail, if you are going to ask people to pay money it should go to the victim family they are the ones who are suffering not the government.
