According to the police, about 10:15 a joint police-military team went to the community in search of a wanted man and members of his gang.
On reaching the community, the patrol team reportedly came under heavy gunfire from a group of men who were armed with rifles.
The two soldiers were hit during the exchange.
The wounded soldiers were rushed to hospital where they were treated and placed under observation.
There is now a strong police-military presence in the community.
St James is under a State of Public Emergency.
Awrite Rocky. Now you see these gunmen are ready to take on your soldiers and kill them. It’s time you stop allowing the JCF to lead JDF soldiers on operations that are leaked to these wanted men by the same police. Why do you think Reneto did not allow cellphones in his briefings and on his operations? Come on Meade, yu betta dan dat.
