SPECIAL GOAT STOLEN FROM LAST YEAR RECOVERED BUT NO ARRESTS

Police assigned to the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit and the Hanover Division yesterday recovered a purebred Nubian buck that was stolen from the Ministry of Agriculture Hounslow Research Station in St Elizabeth on June 21 last year. No one was arrested in connection with the recovery.

Investigations led the officers to a property in Askinish district, Hanover where the buck was found grazing on a hillside.

The animal, which has an estimated value of $100,000, was donated to Jamaica by the Common Fund for Commodities, which is based in the United Kingdom. The animal was expected to diversify the breeds of goat and increase production on the island.

Meanwhile, the police is asking anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of individuals who were involved in this or other praedial larceny cases is being asked to contact the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit at 927-1731-50.
