SUH WAIT, ALL NOW RUEL REID NUH GET CHARGED?

Opposition Senator Lambert Brown has said the authorities must move to charge or exonerate former education minister Ruel Reid and end the delay in dealing with his case.

Mr. Reid was asked by Prime Minister Andrew Holness to resign on March 20 amid allegations of corruption at the Ministry of Education and several entities falling under its remit.

In July, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said its examination of files in relation to the criminal investigation involving Mr. Reid had revealed conduct which may have breached four criminal laws.

Senator Brown noted on Friday in the Senate that there has still been no update in relation to the status of the case.

“The minister is entitled to be exonerated. Tell us what’s the state of that investigation…. It is the culture of delay that exists. People need to know. Exonerate the minister or charge the minister. What is the situation?” he questioned.

In July, the Financial Investigations Division said it was moving to complete its case file based on the DPP’s recommendations.
