The Holy Spirit’s desire is to protect you if you let him
In 1997 I was about one year into my conversion to Christianity. Amazingly after my conversion to Christianity I developed a hunger for knowledge and as a result I spent endless hours reading the bible along with supplementary books.
What was even more amazing was the fact that prior to my conversion I hated reading with a passion. During this time of meditating and studying the bible I quickly noticed some strange things began to take place in my life. For instance, I steadily noticed that the majority of the things that I prayed for manifested quickly. Also, I realized a peace that began to grow within me that kind of subdued a lot of the challenges I was faced with at the time.
The point I am headed towards is, I began to understand and appreciate the importance of knowing the God we serve through his Holy Spirit. In fact it was only when I began to slack off from hearing or reading the word that I slowly began to revert to my confused, frustrated state.
One day in 1997, I had planned to change the oil in my motorcycle and as I was about to approach my motorcycle, I heard a very tranquil eloquent voice in my right ear whispered to me, “Sell the bike”. Well, I quickly turned in the direction of the voice because I was convinced it was a person that said it. Of course there was no one present. Nevertheless, I was convinced that this was the spirit of God speaking to me. Anyway, long story short, I sold the motorcycle within two day and within a month the person that bought the bike was killed instantly on the same motorcycle.
The purpose of me sharing this portion of my life with you is to place emphasis on “The Spirit of Truth” which is the Holy Spirit” that Christ promised would come and a part of his responsibilities is to lead us into all truth. It would be at our disadvantage to ignore his attempts to communicate to us. Like I would have mentioned in my last note, it is through our reading or listening to the word of God that will enable us to hear the clear instructions of the Holy Spirit.
Here is what scripture says about us and the spirit of God that resides in us which is the Holy Spirit, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he (the Holy Spirit) that is in you, than he (the forces of evil) that is in the world” 1 John 4:4.
Why don’t you ask God right this very moment to give you a hunger for his word in an attempt to foster your relationship with his Holy Spirit. Ask God to remove from your life the clutter that has misplaced where your focus should be and that is towards the things of him, in the mighty name of his son and our savior Jesus Christ. Amen!
