THE REJECTED WILL BECOME THE CORNER STONE

The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. Psalm 118:22

Saul had messed up big time because he lacked discernment and reverence for the things and ways of God. His disobedience has earned him rejection by God who decided to now install a king who was a man after His heart. So, God sent the prophet Samuel on a mission to the house of Jesse to anoint a man that He will personally choose as King.

Jesse’s house seemed to be the right place to go because he was blessed with handsome, finely built and attractive young men who could fit the bill. So, he got there and announced his mission and the young men all presented themselves to Samuel, one after the other but God chose none of them. So, Samuel had to ask if all the men had been presented because he heard God clearly and it wasn’t possible that he or God above all was mistaken about the fact that there was a king – to – be in Jesse’s household. He therefore asked if there was no other son that was yet to appear before him and they casually mentioned the fact that there was indeed an inconsequential boy who was out in the field taking care of the sheep. Nobody had thought it fit or necessary to invite him earlier; he was more or less the reject of the family. But the reject was God’s king who served his people in righteousness.

Even though you have been rejected by men, God who qualifies the unqualified will crown you with glory this year. Those who despised you will honour you. Those who disappointed you will appoint you. Those who disrespected you will bow down at your feet and honour you. This is the year in which the rejected stone shall become the corner stone. Rejoice!
