TIGER BACK ON THE MIC

TWENTY-TWO years after a motor accident that almost killed him, deejay Tiger returned to New York City early this week for Irie Jam’s Labor Day weekend show.

He was among more than a dozen artistes who performed at the Queens-based radio station’s 22nd anniversary concert, which was held Sunday at Roy Wilkins Park.

Tiger, who sustained extensive brain damage in the 1993 accident, worked in tandem with deejay Johnny P, his contemporary from the 1980s/1990s. He was in good form and had fans singing along to Wanga Gut, Summer Love, When, Ital Jockey and Yu Dead Now.

Bobby Clarke, co-founder and CEO of Irie Jam, was pleased with the response to Tiger’s set.

“It is unfortunate that his career got derailed after his motorcycle accident, but thank God he is alive and is back performing. I am happy we were able to use the Irie Jam radio anniversary platform to showcase his skills, and fans truly appreciated him,” Clarke told Splash.

Dexta Daps, Christopher Martin, Ding Dong and Ravers Clavers, Gyptian, Red Rat, Assassin, Bugle, Spragga Benz, Mr Vegas, Flourgon, Konshens, Anthony Cruz, Lushy Banton, No Maddz, Omeil, QQ, Gully Bop, Micheal ‘Lick Shot’ Palmer, and veteran female deejays Sister Charmaine and Lady Ann also performed on the event.
