WOMAN WHO SET BOYFRIEND ON FIRE REMANDED

Sonita Blair, 36, the woman accused of setting her boyfriend on fire after accusing him of cheating, was remanded when she made her first appearance before the St. Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.

She is to return on June 30 for a bail hearing.

Miss Blair is charged with the murder of Kenton Brown, a 43 year-old carpenter of Espuet Avenue in St. Andrew.

Mr. Brown died from injuries he sustained when Ms Blair allegedly threw a flammable substance on him and set him ablaze.

Investigators say Mr. Brown was asleep when he was set ablaze close to midnight on May 23.

Witnesses told investigators that Ms Blair had accused Mr. Brown of having an affair.
