THREE suspects, namely Isaac Ajao (40), Odesola Adedokun (38) and Kazeem Ibrahim (42) were on Wednesday, arraigned before a Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo over the attempted murder, unlawful possession of criminal charms and obtaining by false pretence.
The second accused person, Odesola Odedokun, who is a father to one Mary Odedokun was among the those docked for allegedly attempting to kill her daughter (Mary) with the intent of using her for money rituals.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Tajudeen Mustapha informed the court that the all the suspects and others at large on the 7th of March, 2018 at an about 7.30 hrs around Ifon community, conspired among themselves in attempting to kill Mary Odedokun with the intention of using her for money rituals.
According to him, the offence committed by the accused persons was contrary to and punishable under section 320 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
Mustapha hinted that the second accused person, Odesola Odedokun was said to be the father of the victim, Mary.
He further explained that the third accused person, Kazeem Ibrahim did by false pretence and with intent to defraud and obtain the sum of N34,000 from the first accused, Isaac Ajao, stressing that such acts were also contrary to Section 418 and punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
However, the defence counsel to the accused persons, Mr R. A Ugwu pleaded with the court to grant his clients bail in most liberal terms, just as the suspects pleaded not guilty to the 3-count charge.
Presiding Magistrate F.A Sodamade granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with one surety in the like sum, saying each surety must be a grade level 15 civil servant and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, including the tender evidence of three years tax payments.
She subsequently adjourned the matter to 30th of April for hearing.
