“She’s shameless and engages in extra-marital affairs. I caught her almost naked and her lover without his trousers in our bedroom.”
These were part of the evidence given by a couple, Adebisi Oluwatobi and Gbenga Oluwatobi before Ile Tuntun Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Adebisi had dragged her husband to court, alleging that he was a liar and was always accusing him of infidelity. She added that he was in the habit of borrowing money from him and never paying back.

The plaintiff sought for a clean cut from her husband who according to her had succeeded in frustrating her.
Gbenga in his evidence stated that he couldn’t wait to do away with his wife. The defendant told the court she had done enough damage to his name.
The court president, Chief Olasunkanmi Agbaje, adjourned the case till July 31 and ordered both parties to come with their children and parents for further hearing.
“My lord, if my husband says ‘good morning’, you can be sure it’s thick midnight.
“He’s a liar and is in the habit of calling white, black. This practice of his has made him of no value or worth before me, his family members and friends.
“Gbenga once accused me of having illicit affair with his younger brother living with us. He lied that he caught us having sex and humiliated me.
“I informed my mother of this development and she sought for an explanation from him. My husband to my surprise denied ever accusing me of adultery. He told my mother what he saw was a revelation in his dream, “the plaintiff said.
“He shirked his responsibilities at home on regular basis. He is never bothered about my survival and that of our children.
“He borrows money from me and will never make a refund. If I demand for it, he will turn it into a fight.
“He collected my six months contribution from me and has not paid me back till date.
“My father gave me N15, 000 to boost my business. I bought a wall mirror and made a dressing table for my salon. My husband being a carpenter dismantled the table and used some parts in making a desk and chair for our daughter’s use in school, “she added.
“My lord, I called a carpenter in our neighbourhood to help build a shelf in my shop. I brought him inside our sitting room to show him the exact specification.
“My husband came in at this moment and accused me of adultery. He asked me to pack my belongings and move out of his house.
“My lord, I’ve suffered enough humiliation in my husband’s hands, please separate us, “she said.
Giving his evidence Gbenga stated that:”My wife is an ingrate. I made her whatever she is today. I sponsored her training as hairdresser and bought her equipment for the business, but her complaint ever is that of lack of care.
“My lord, neither am I interested in our marriage any more. I, therefore, agree to divorce.
“Adebisi is a slot. She has ever remained unfaithful to me.
“I forgot a quotation meant to be used at my workshop at home and went back for it.
“I got the shock of my life when on rushing into our apartment and moving towards our bedroom, I caught Adebisi coming out of the bedroom naked except for the wrapper round her. Her lover, who happens to be a carpenter in our neighbourhood had his trousers in his hands. They were both sweating. It was obvious they were just through with sex.
“My lord, I have caught her in such an act before and this almost tore her family and mine apart.
“I knew I was through with her and asked her to move out of my house, “he stated.
