Man, 30, defiles 10-year-old girl in Katsina

A 30-year-old man, Nalado Sule, has appeared before a Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old-girl and inflicting injuries on her private parts.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Lawal Bello, told the court on Thursday that the father of the victim, Bello Umar, reported the incident at the Ingawa Divisional Police Headquarters.
Umar reported that the incident occurred at his residence on December 19, 2019, at Ingawa town.
According to him, he and the defendant are neighbours at the Kofar Gabai quarters in Ingawa.
He said his daughter’s assailant lured the young girl into his room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
In his statement to the police, Umar stated, “Sule lured the victim into his room and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her. As a result, she sustained serious injuries in her private parts.”
Sule has been charged with rape contrary to Section 254 of the Katsina State Penal Code.
The prosecutor pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter to enable the police conclude investigation into the incident.
The presiding magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, granted the request and adjourned the case till February 19, 2020.
She also ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility till then.
