Two watchmen were caught slaughtering a stolen goat on Monday night in Shauri Yako slums in Homabay County.
One of them is currently nursing wounds inflicted on him by an angry mob at the Homabay District Hospital.
According to the animal’s owner, Jennifer Omolo, she realised that it was missing when they came back home from grazing. She said that she owns six goats which usually go grazing by themselves and come back in the evening from the fields that are actually not far from the homestead.
Immediately, she went to look for the lost one, she found the duo, 32 year old Benjamin Longailale and Stephen Chembulu aged 55, slaughtering it.
Chembulu escaped leaving his partner in crime to face the wrath of the villagers who descended on him with all manner of weapons.
Homabay Police boss, Gabriel Musau, said that police rescued Chembulu and rushed him to the hospital and urged locals to stay away from mob justice.
