A TOUT in Bulawayo allegedly raped a 22-year-old prostitute after throttling her until she fainted, a court heard.
Calisto Sayi, 35, who pleaded not guilty to a rape charge, told regional magistrate Mark Dzira that he had consensual sex with Shantel Moyo.
“I met her at Maisonic Bar where we were introduced by a friend. After we had a few drinks we spoke about engaging in sex and she charged me $5,” said Sayi.
He said Moyo actually pressed him to hurry saying she had other clients to attend to.
“We went to my home and had sex in the car.
“I had two condoms and gave them to her and she put one on me herself,” said Sayi.
He said Moyo asked him to hurry as $5 was not enough for the time he had spent with her.
“I then forked out R50 for extra time but she refused and said we were done,” Sayi said.
Moyo said Sayi forced himself on her after she fainted when he attempted to strangle her.
“We met at a bar where I was having a castle lite beer. I was introduced to him by a friend,” said Moyo.
“As we were drinking he asked me if I wanted more beer and I said yes. He then asked me to accompany him to his house to get money.”
“When we got to his gate I refused to enter and he grabbed me. Inside the gate, he handed me to a man who I did not recognise in the dark.”
She said Sayi wrapped his hands around her neck and started choking her until she lost consciousness.
Moyo, the court heard, regained consciousness to find herself undressed with Sayi, who was also undressed and on top of her.
She said Sayi ordered her to leave through a broken window on the car after which she reported him to the police.
Dzira remanded Sayi out custody to Monday for continuation of trial.
Tinashe Dzipe prosecuted.
