He stole my money, goods, dashed out to avoid giving us feeding allowance’
OlaniranA woman, Monisola Olaniran has prayed Oja Oba/Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, to dissolve her marriage to her husband, Oyedeji Olaniran.
Monisola in her suit alleged that her husband was indifferent to her wellbeing and that of their children, adding that he stole her money and goods.
She, as a result, pleaded with the court to separate them and order him to hand over to her the two children he took away from her.
“My lord, all I pray the court is to order my husband to return the two children he took away from me because he doesn’t have the time and wherewithal to take care of them.
“He’s shameless and willfully shirked his responsibility in the home. He would wait till I was in the bathroom before dashing out of the house to avoid giving me and the children feeding allowance.
“He would return late at night expecting to be served supper. And when I did, he would complain the food was tasteless and that the portion served him was small. At the end of the day, he would finish his food, leak his plate and fingers and jump into bed snoring.
“He always got angry at the mention of our children’s education and contributed nothing towards it. I’m the one paying their school fees while I also buy their books, uniform and sandals. He doesn’t know the school they are attending or their classes till date.
“When I complain of his care free attitude towards us, he would beat me till I sometimes fainted.

“My lord, he was also in the habit of stealing my money and goods. He would ransack my wardrobe and bags and steal money made from the sales of my goods. I confronted him but he denied it. I, therefore, changed where I kept my money. Seeing he didn’t have access to my money again, he took to stealing and selling my goods, most especially my kegs of palm oil which spurred my decision to come to court.
“He has since packed his belongings and ran away from home after he was served a court summon, “she stated.
Oyediran refused to show up in court after being served a court hearing and court summon.
Giving his judgment after listening to the plaintiff, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade dissolved their marriage and granted custody of their four children to the plaintiff.
The defendant was ordered to return the two children in his custody to the plaintiff through the court and be responsible for the feeding, education and health service of their children.
According to Odunade, Oyedeji should give their children N15, 000 monthly for food.
