“While still battling with the reality that I might not be able to carry a baby in my womb and experience the joy of motherhood, my mother in-law turned against me. She became a thorn in the flesh.

“She turned our home upside down and refused that I had peace. My lord, my mother in-law insisted I must leave his son’s house.

“To make real her threat, she brought into our matrimonial home another woman whom she said was my husband’s new wife. This woman I later learnt is a widow.

“My mother in-law later insisted I must move out of the house but I refused.

“My lord, she went as far as threatening to curse his son if he decided to continue with our marriage.

“I left my husband’s place for my mum after my mother in-law made life unbearable for me.

“My husband came to my mother’s place to apologise on her mother’s behalf and placate me. He begged that I should return home with him but I told him I was no longer interested in our marriage.

“He got angry when he heard that and after much argument beat me mercilessly in my mother’s presence.

“He stormed out of my mother’s residence warning me never to come near his house.
