He Maltreats Our Children, Beats Me, Accuses Me Of Adultery —Wife
An Ekiti Customary Court sitting in Ikole Ekiti, Ekiti State, recently dissolved the 13-year-old marriage between a trader, Mrs Odunayo Afolabi and her husband, Olumide Omotoso, over irreconcilable differences.
The court president, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, awarded custody of their three children to Odunayo for proper care and upbringing.
She ordered Olumide to be responsible for the payment of their children’s school fees.
The court president also ordered the petitioner to always allow the children to visit their father during the holidays.
She warned the respondent against maltreating their children whenever they were with him on holidays.
Earlier, the petitioner, Odunayo, 32, a trader, in her evidence said she was not customarily married to the respondent who is the father of her three children.
She told the court that the respondent always beat and accuse her of adultery and being possessed by evil spirits.
Odunayo prayed to the court to dissolve their marriage so that she could have peace of mind.
The mother of three also prayed the court to award her custody of their children on the grounds that the respondent always maltreated them.
She, however, appealed to the court to order the respondent to pay the sum of N20,000 as their children’s monthly feeding allowance.
The respondent, Olumide, 35, denied beating the petitioner.
Olumide accused the petitioner of committing adultery with her boss.
The respondent also accused the petitioner of being possessed by evil spirits.
He prayed the court to award him custody of their children.
