Please save me, my husband beats me daily
A woman, Mrs Grace Okunwa, has told an Agege Customary Court in Lagos that her husband beats her on a daily basis.
Grace, who responded to a petition filed against her by her husband, told the court that her estranged husband, Macaulay Okunwa, maltreated her.
She urged the court to dissolve their marriage for alleged domestic violence, saying she was fed up with her husband’s attitude.
“My husband is adulterous, not trustworthy and dangerous; he beats me at every opportunity, even in front of our children and neighbours.
“My husband deceived me. He is dating one Theresa who lives not too far from our house but he keeps denying the affair,” she said.
Grace also said that her estranged husband destroyed expensive goods inside her shop.
“I want peace. l don’t want any problem in my life,” she said.
She urged the court to end the marriage as she was no longer in love with Macaulay.
The petitioner was, however, absent in court.
Grace said she moved out of their matrimonial home with three of her children.
The president of the court, Ibironke Elabor, adjourned the case till May 15 for continuation of trial.
