AGNES Makhanya knew there was a stranger in her yard when she heard her dog running around and barking last Wednesday night.
She said even though it was 12AM, she woke up and looked through her kitchen window to see what was happening.
“I saw an undressed man aged between 30 to 35 years running around the yard. I screamed so loudly that my children woke up and called the neighbours. The strange man stood still for a few seconds, and then ran into an outside shack to hide,” said Agnes from Umzinyathi, north of Durban.
“He was taken out and questioned, but he didn’t say what he was doing in my yard. Residents then started beating him but still he did not talk any sense.”
Agnes’ daughter, Nokubonga Makhanya (19) said the man had never been seen in the area before.
“I realised he wasn’t from the area. I feared he might be a zombie. His body was smeared with white powder and his head with black muthi. My brother called the cops and they took him away.”
The cops said the man had signs of mental illness and was taken to hospital for medical attention.
