A man who was hired by a Spruitview, Ekurhulen woman to kill her husband later reportedly exposed the woman to the husband and her in laws after gathering all the evidence that she wanted him dead.
Daily Sun reported that Bernard Mahlangu said since January he has been making excuses to a woman because he couldn’t kill her husband.
“She kept saying I must kill her husband but I just kept giving her excuses,” said Mahlangu (28).
“I’ve never killed anybody in my life. I agreed to her deal just to expose her.”
Bernard said he was approached by the woman and asked to kill her husband.
“I told her I wanted R50 000 for the job but she said she could only manage R15 000,” he said.
“We spoke on the phone almost every day and she told me where her husband was. She made me meet her husband and pretend to be her sister’s boyfriend.”
Bernard said they also had text conversations.
He said he kept all the messages to prove to the police and the husband’s family what was happening.
She told me she didn’t love her husband anymore and wanted him dead. He advised her to get a divorce.
“She said if I didn’t want the money I must tell her so that she could recruit other hitmen,” Bernard said.
“I told her I was the right man for the job because I wanted to save her husband.”
Finally, Bernard plucked up the courage and went to the husband’s family, showing them the WhatsApp conversations.
The husband, who is grateful to Bernard for saving his life, went to the cops to lay charges against his wife and she was arrested on Thursday.
Police spokesman Captain Mega Ndobe confirmed that a suspect was arrested on Thursday and charged with conspiracy to murder.
He said the suspect appeared in court on Friday and was detained in police custody.
Ndobe said police are still investigating the case.
