One of the suspects, who was taken into custody in relation to the brutal murder of woman Constable Crystal Thomas, died in the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on Friday after being admitted for two weeks.
He is 29-year-old Marlon Cherrington, otherwise called ‘Kemar Anderson’, of Kidd Lane, Kingston 11.
Reports are that on Saturday, July 18 about 6:45 pm, Cherrington was found lying in a cell in an unresponsive state; it is further reported that prisoners allegedly beat him.
He was taken to KPH where he was admitted. Shortly after midday on Friday, July 31, Cherrington was pronounced dead.
The Inspectorate of the Constabulary and the Independent Commission of Investigations have launched a probe into the incident.
