The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) has commenced a probe into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting of three alleged members of the Ski Mask gang in Friendship, Trelawny late on Monday afternoon.
The police, who are yet to determine the identity of one of the men, have released the names of two of the deceased as Adrian Walker, alias ‘Lippy’, and Robert Miller.
Walker was said to have been the new leader of the gang which originated in Barrett Town, St James, but was significantly neutralised by the security forces, including the killing of six of its alleged members in Goodwill, St James in January 2017, and only recently re-emerged as a criminal force in Trelawny.
The police reported that about 5:00 p.m. on Monday, they were in the Friendship area, when they came upon some men who opened fire at them, which they returned.
The three men suffered gunshot wounds during the exchange of gunfire, and were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Two guns were reportedly recovered after the shooting.
A team from INDECOM visited the scene of the shooting.
Recently, a joint police/military team was engaged in a heated and extended gunfight with the alleged gangsters in Bunkers Hill, Trelawny, which is next door to Friendship. But the hoodlums escaped the security dragnet.
The Ski Mask gangsters were said to have had the Bunkers Hill community under siege, with wanton extortion and robbery being perpetrated there, which drove the community into extreme fear.
