WARNER SEH HIM PAY RENT, KAMLA SEH IS LIE

Lies and distractions.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar indicated yesterday that Jack Warner’s latest claim that he paid rent for a house for her in Santa Margarita, St Augustine in 2010 was in her lawyers’ hands.

She said his latest “expose” in his Sunshine newspaper was more distractions and lies.

Warner, the Chaguanas West MP and Independent Liberal Party (ILP) leader, published a front page report headlined “Kamla’s Hide Out House”. The article stated that Warner spent more than $50,000 to rent the St Augustine property for Persad-Bissessar, in 2010 when she was Opposition Leader, and her sister Wattie.

According to the report, Warner rented the property at his expense following a request from Persad-Bissessar, who complained she was fatigued from travelling back and forth to her South Trinidad residence during the 2010 electoral campaign.

Two copies of cheques from First Citizens Bank paid to Your Move Real Estate Ltd from Warner were published.

The first cheque was valued at $36,540 and dated April 19, 2010, while the other was dated May 25, 2010 and valued at $18,270.

According to the Sunshine, Warner also paid for cable TV and groceries.

The report stated that the lease on the property was for three months from “Your Move! Real Estate Limited” and the residential tenancy agreement was between Derek Drayton and Jamad Limited of 113 Edward Street, Port of Spain.

Jamad Limited is a company owned by Warner.

On May 27, after being released from prison, Warner declared the “gloves are off” and vowed to expose the Prime Minister and her Government.

Last week, his Sunshine newspaper published copies of cheques totalling $1.7 million paid from Jamad Limited to Ross Advertising for the 2010 general election campaign.

Persad-Bissessar has denied ever receiving any money from Warner. She said he may have funded his own Chaguanas West campaign in 2010.

The Prime Minister said Warner’s focused attacks on her were meant to distract from the damning charges over his head with respect to FIFA.

Warner, a former FIFA vice-president, has been charged with racketeering, money laundering and fraud by the US Government and is currently out on $2.5 million bail.

There is an extradition request for him to answer these charges in the US which his attorneys are expected to fight.

Sources told the Express it was curious that Warner would claim to pay rent for a house for Persad-Bissessar when in that same year there was an investigation into her staying at her friend Ralph Gopaul’s house in Pasea, Tunapuna.

Meanwhile, Housing Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal said people should read United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s charge sheet against Warner as opposed to the Sunshine newspaper.

“Mr Warner’s problem is not Kamla, it’s Loretta. I will not be part of his circus, he should concentrate on Lorretta Lynch,” said Moonilal in response to questions from the Express on the Sunshine report.
