Superintendent of the Manchester Police Division, Wayne Cameron, has reported that the 27-year-old man killed in an alleged shoot-out with the police in the parish this morning was a person of interest in at least three murders.
The deceased Everald Daley, otherwise called ‘Pete’, reportedly engaged police on patrol in the Kingsland area, where he is from, at about 10:30am.
A police constable was injured during the shooting.
Cameron said that he has been treated and was released from hospital.
The Manchester commander said that the deceased was a person of interest in last month’s murder of Ainsworth Green who was shot in the head on deCarteret Road in Mandeville and funeral home worker Vejay Bennett, killed in Royal Flat Manchester earlier this year.
Daley was also being sought in relation to the murder of sisters Deon Foster and Tashi Foster, killed in Comfort District last year.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has started a probe into Daley’s death, the police said.
