Forensic evidence is being used by the Westmoreland Police to help solve the murder of 21 year old Shantel Wright.
Miss Wright’s body was found near her house in Little London on June 16, two days after she was reported missing.
A policeman is being investigated in connection with her death.
Assistant Commissioner Warren Clarke, head of the Area One Police, said based on evidence collected at the scene of the crime and at Ms Wright’s house, investigators are confident that the case will be solved soon.
ACP Clarke said it is too early to say whether the policeman will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
INDECOM is also conducting its own investigation into the case.
Murder and missing child
In the meantime, ACP Clarke gave an update on the investigation into the murder of 24 year old Shantel Dyer and the disappearance of her three year old daughter Orlandie Miller in Negril, Westmoreland.
Ms Dyer’s body was found in a makeshift grave in a house on Pee Wee Lane on June 7.
The police say the suspect, Ayele Russell, left the island in April. However, ACP Clarke said for the sake of the investigation, no update could be given on the whereabouts of the man.
A probe to find the missing child is ongoing, he said.
