POLICE WHO BLAMED HIS 17YO DEATH ON ANOTHER MAN CONVICTED OF MURDER

A police officer was on Thursday convicted in the Westmoreland Circuit Court for the 2010 murder of his 17 year-old girlfriend.

Constable Linval Aird is to be sentenced on July 28 for the murder of Shauna-Kaye Clarke on April 11, 2010.

The incident took place about 9:00 p.m. on Great George Street in Savanna-la-Mar.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in a statement Friday afternoon, reported that Constable Aird, who was attached to the Westmoreland Criminal Investigation Branch had sought to blame the death of Miss Clarke on another man.

He pointed out the other man to the police in May 2010.

The DPP says after reviewing that file, the matter was discontinued.

Constable Aird was subsequently arrested in September 2010 and charged with the murder of Miss Clarke.
