Monster Moms! – Under-Pressure Mothers Pushing Their Teenage Daughters Into Sex

Some mothers in the central Kingston community of ‘Tel Aviv’ are being accused of encouraging their young daughters into relationships with older men as a way of coping with the struggles of inner-city life.
Several residents of the community, who participated in a Gleaner/RISE Life Management On the Corner with Unattached Youths forum in the tough community last Wednesday, argued that this was one of the social factors negatively impacting the area.
“The parents a tell the little girl them, ‘Go on go beg a lunch money, go beg this, go beg that.’ What do you expect is going to happen? You don’t expect that the man them going to beg them back?” argued Kim, a resident of Rum Lane.
As the residents grappled with the problem of underage s*x and teenage pregnancy that are prevalent in the community, they condemned the actions of all involved, including the adult men and the teenage girls.
“Many times the little girl them put themselves in that position. They want to feel big man, and so them force-ripe themselves. Many times it is they and their parents who are to blame,” added Kim, as two female residents chimed in with support for her.
“Some of the men must go one-side, too. When them see the little girls with right here (breast) bubbly and front buff up, dem skin ketch fire; and some of the little girls are [in heat] too,” interjected one woman who asked that her name be withheld.
“To make it worse, they are not taking family planning. Some of them say that the man them don’t want them to take it and so on, but no man can’t tell me that.
She added: “There are some girls who are saying that the man beat them if them take family planning [birth-control measures]. But some of them like the beating. They say that if the man don’t beat them, they don’t love them,” stressed the woman, who also blamed delinquent underage mothers for their children’s fate.
A study by the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition, the Jamaica Family Planning Associations and the Jamaica AIDS Support for Life a month ago found that almost half of all sexually active females in Jamaica between 15 and 24 years old were forced into their first sexual encounter.
The study also found that in 2015, one third of persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years old in Jamaica reported having s*x before age 15.
Another norm created by women who never made lemonaide with their lemons. Many of them hate their daughters (the if me never have you syndrome) so they assist in making their lives a replica of theirs.
