Hello Met and all Pinkwall bloggers. This is Simone.
I would like to address the Vanessa Bling situation, where Vanessa Bling was not amused by Curvy Diva’s little stunt, where she took off her panties on stage at a gathering. There was a small backlash, the most outspoken being the unsolicited views of a woman from somewhere besides Jamaica. The woman said that Vanessa Bling, who has been photographed in bed with convicted murder and fellow entertainer Vybz Kartel, has been involved in criminal activities herself and that what Curvy Diva did was harmless and fun. Now I disagree. We all know what went down with Vanessa Bling and the Gaza cult, I mean crew. We saw the pictures, we heard the leaked audios, we saw the report of the police report she made which for her in trouble with the law. This is what makes her qualified in my view to give her opinion, and speak out against indecent and immoral behaviour. Now, she should never do it in a condescending manner, but a voice of reason to help our young people to stay on a righteous path should always be welcomed.
I see a lot of complaining about fake motivational speakers, which I have complained about as well, but why are we so quick to put down someone we have all seen fight the deadliest of odds and succeeded? Shouldn’t we want to hear her story? Vanessa was a young girl with a great voice from a rural community, with dreams of making it big. She met Vybz Kartel and began recording with him, not knowing the risk she had taken. Kartel has her under his complete control, with him allegedly making her threaten others and making a false police report. We know who Vybz Kartel is. She was very young when she was under his control. She got off her case (which Kartel allegedy didn’t give her any lawyer money for) and ever since then she has been keeping out of trouble, and focusing on her career. She has steered clear of Vybz Kartel and the Gaza members. I would love to see her go out and speak to wayward girls, using herself as an example. No way, with Vybz Kartel still alive, can she really tell us everything that went on. However, the little that she can say, should be put to good use in motivating our girls.
HELL NAh….not in my book . We all have our opinions though.
Yes ….she’s a role model who has come a long way in her development! fingers cross she will become much more.
I am not sure role model is the correct term. However, I do believe she has some life experiences to share that could be insightful to a young woman who is trying to sort herself out in the world.
I like this.
