Thirty homeless cross-dressers have been removed from the Shoemaker Gully in New Kingston in a major operation that began around 11 o’clock this morning.
According to deputy superintendent Christopher Murdock, nine of them have since been arrested.
He says the hunt is on for a tenth man said to be naked and holed up in the gully.
The nine men arrested by the police had been wanted for larceny, break-ins and robbery committed in the New Kingston area.
The operation is being carried out by the police with support from the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation.
One KSAC official says the authority will seal sections of the gully over the next month.
