A DIFFERENT KIND OF MOUNTAIN-GOOD MORNING

A DIFFERENT KIND OF MOUNTAIN

And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” 4 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. 1kings 18:41 – 42
The reason why people give up and run away from challenges is because they fail to imagine what lies ahead of them. Generally, Christians love to command mountains to disappear because Jesus says we have faith that can move mountains but they fail to consider the fact that while we can move mountains, there are some mountains that we must climb because of the advantage of standing on a mountain top. The eagle is the only bird with a phenomenal flight record; the eagle lives on mountain tops. Can you imagine what it will be like if there were no mountain tops for eagles to live in and learn to fly from? Can you imagine what the earth and life would be like if there were no mountains and valleys?
You must learn to stop seeing all mountains as obstacles that must be cleared because some mountains are opportunities for you to go higher in life and truly behold the beauty and splendor of God’s glory. To climb a mountain may be tough but one thing is guaranteed; the view from the top is always breathtaking, refreshing, beautiful and wonderful. You cannot afford to live in such a way that your only perspective of life is from the valley or at best the plateau. There is no gain without pain; there is no crown without a cross. Do not be afraid of the pain and stress of climbing up the mountain; God created mountains for specific purposes. We will not be talking about salvation, deliverance, redemption, restoration and all the good things God has blessed us with if Jesus had refused to climb up Mount Calvary. To see the cloud that confirmed that there was indeed going to be rain, Elijah had to climb up to the top of Mount Carmel. To get to the next level of glory in your life, you may need to climb that mountain of obstacles instead of commanding it to move. Remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

A mountain is a large landform that stretches above the surrounding land. Usually steeper than a hill. The highest mountain in the world is Mount Everest. Most people see mountain as hindrances to their ultimate breakthrough. We all know the popular song “This mountain shall be removed…” Mark11:23. It was on a mountain that Elijah commanded fire. Each time Jesus needed to pray Mathew 14:23 he went up, we need to go up to draw strength from God. Great men of God still go up to the mountain top to set themselves apart to seek the face of God in prayer and fasting. Even if the mountain represents obstacles sometimes God allows it so he can draw us close to him. Job had to climb the mountain of afflictions. As we trust in the Lord the solid mountain, we will achieve victory over sin and disappoint the enterprise of the wicked.
