A POOR MEMORY HELPS-GOOD MORNING

A POOR MEMORY HELPS

And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors And do not lead us into temptation,But deliver us from the evil one Matthew 6:12 – 13
It is generally believed that people with a poor memory are handicapped and in most cases, it is treated like a medical condition. But there are moments in life when a poor memory becomes an asset; those times when you need to forgive and not bear a grudge. God himself knew that He would need to forgive us over and over again, so He created a dark place in the depth of the sea where He will hide all the things that we do wrong and keep them far away from His sight or memory. That is a very good example to follow especially in an environment where people find the need to remember wrongs that have been done against them. But wisdom teaches that we should never carry a grudge or the memory of wrong that has been done against us because we suffer under the weight of such negative memories while those who wronged us are carrying on with their lives. Refusing to carry a memory of wrongs done against you is a decision you must make and back up with a conscious effort not to remember. Wrong memories inspire hate, bitterness and the need for revenge; these are vices that you cannot afford to accommodate in your life. These vices create a rift between you and God because our forgiveness for others re-assures us of God’s forgiveness.
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He taught them to ask God to forgive them as they too forgave others who sinned against them. When we forgive men when they do wrong against us, our heavenly father also forgives us. This simply means that when we deny others forgiveness, we deny ourselves forgiveness too. Think about it; is it not foolish to put a strain on your relationship with God simply because you do not want to forgive? Some people even put a time-line on their decision to forgive; they schedule a date in the future when they think it is good enough to forgive. Please note that some of the generational curses that are destroying people’s lives today are consequences of hatred, bitterness, vengeance and all the vices that follow unforgiveness. You cannot afford to allow that to continue in your life. There are even some families that are known for their quest for vengeance and bitterness; that is not your portion or identity as a child of God. Separate yourself from that kind of evil and let the light of God bring deliverance and restoration to your life.
Liberation thought: Vengeance belongs to God.
