TRENTON — A Philadelphia resident and two Trenton citizens were arrested last week after police allegedly caught them transporting 12 1/2 pounds of marijuana.
Ajah Rose, 30, of Philadelphia, and Trenton residents Dennis Hayles, 23, and Camille Campbell, 36, are each charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams and several distribution offenses.
According to law enforcement sources, around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Officers Michael Palinczar and Sheila Tatarek were patrolling the 200 block of Walnut Avenue when the driver of a Toyota Camry allegedly pulled out of a parking spot and almost hit the police vehicle. Sources say the officers then followed the Camry onto Hampton Avenue where they activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
Palinczar approached the driver, sources say, and asked for license and proof of ownership. Meanwhile, Tatarek obtained identification from the front seat passenger, and then allegedly noticed a bag of marijuana lying on the rear floorboard.
Sources say the officers then called for backup because the amount of people in the car outnumbered the amount of officers on-scene. The suspects were then removed from the car, sources say, while police searched the vehicle. And that’s when the officers allegedly found additional marijuana in a child car seat, as well as in the trunk of the Camry.
The officers allegedly recovered a total of 12 1/2 pounds of marijuana, several boxes of Ziploc bags, a digital scale and a Ziploc vacuum sealer system. They also seized $1,016 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
