KINGSTON, Jamaica — A group of workers employed to the Bennett’s Funeral Home on North Street in downtown Kingston, on Wednesday staged a demonstration at the location, saying that not enough is being done to locate the proprietor of the establishment, Jennifer Bennett-Edwards.
Bennett-Edwards, 52, of Carr Hill district in Rock Hall, St Andrew was reported missing on Tuesday, January 7.
Last Thursday, undertakers in downtown Kingston launched a search for her.
“The last time we see her was Monday and this is not like her to close her business and don’t say anything to anybody and we are concerned,” said one of several people gathered at the business place that morning.
The owner of Borrows Funeral Home, Sharon Borrows, told OBSERVER ONLINE last Friday that she and other parlour owners had noticed Edwards acting strangely for several weeks.
“She had been losing a lot of weight, and the last few times I saw her she seemed very nervous about something,” Borrows said. She added that calls to one of Edward’s cell phones have gone unanswered.
The workers who demonstrated on Wednesday evening were also joined by residents from the area.
The search is still on for Bennett-Edwards.
