The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) is advising that the Bustamante Hospital for Children is only accepting emergency cases until further notice.
According to a release from SERHA a short while ago, this move is as a result of industrial action being taken by the health records staff following an incident at the hospital.
Reports are that the incident, involving a parent, resulted in a health records clerk being seriously injured.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 pm Wednesday.
SERHA said that police were summoned to the hospital and the staff member is now recovering from surgery at the Kingston Public Hospital.
