A Chinese businessman appeared in court last Friday for reportedly assaulting a customer after calling him a “b…. man”.
Wei Sheng Wu, 41, of Manor Park, St Andrew, was arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm following allegations that he used a piece of board to hit the complainant across his back.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 23, at 5:50 pm in the vicinity of the accused man’s wholesale on Shortwood Road.
According to the complainant, he went into Wei’s wholesale and ordered a cigarette from him. However, complainant alleged that Wei became boisterous and told him: “Come out, you is a b…. man.”
The complainant said he bent under the counter and asked a woman to purchase the cigarette for him, then left the store after the lady gave him the cigarette.
Wei was reportedly still cursing when the complainant was leaving and both men exchanged words.
The complainant, however, reportedly walked to the parking lot where he said he was confronted by Wei, who used a piece of board to hit him across his back and chased him along Shortwood Road.
The complainant said he crossed the road to the opposite side of the wholesale and while he was standing there Wei came out with a chopper and said: “Mi a go chop you up with this chopper; mi nuh done with you yet.”
The matter was reported and Wei was arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
On Friday when he appeared in court with his lawyer Anthony Pearson, he pleaded not guilty and a trial date was set for January 24.
