KINGSTON, Jamaica — Defence attorney Michael Lorne poured cold water on the prosecution’s case against his client Shawn Campbell Monday morning as the murder trial of entertainer Vybz Kartel and four co-accused continues in the Home Circuit court.
Lorne in giving his final argument told the jurors “The prosecution is clutching at straws”.
“Is there anything to show that Campbell ordered somebody to travel with him”? Lorne questioned. “Was there a plan”? If the prosecution has failed to show that plan, then their case has fallen down and they are relying on circumstantial evidence,” Lorne declared.
Campbell, also known as ‘Shawn Storm’, is alleged to have transported murder victim Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams to Kartel’s Havendale house on the day he was killed.
The prosecution had argued that although Campbell was not at the house at the time of the murder, he was aware of the plot to kill the men. Lorne began his presentation on Friday.
Defence attorneys Pierre Rodgers, Everton Dewar and Tamika Henry are expected to present their closing arguments before the case is handed over to the jurors by president Judge Justice Lennox Campbell.
mi haffi demote certain man…licky licky dread
“clutching at straws” huh………..well thats the same straw that gonna break the camel back
He cant deny that Shawn was at the house so him a say Shawn was not in the planning :hammer
now him a seh a time ….di time too short fi dem commit di crime ………mi want a razor blade
I think the reporter misquoted the prosecutor. The prosecutor said you do not have to participate in the actual murder. Giving the impression that Shawn Storm did not participate. He did say he was at the house. The taxi took them to the house.
I beg to differ from the defence counsel’s reasoning. I do see a clear case here and believe the persons responsible for lizards death are the ones on trial. The way how the police went for the one Sketel I knew they were onto something big
y di defence a stretch out di case so?
You never have to participate in a crime to be equally guilty of said crime. I think the reporter went out on a limb saying “the defense poor cold water on the prosecution’s case”. The accused not only placed himself at the murder scene but admitted to having been in transport with the deceased minutes prior to him having disappeared from the face of the Earth. The evidence also documents Shawn’s knowledge of an impending murder and a cautionary text from his gf to avoid troubling. How has the defense in any way ameliorated this plight for Shawn?
what a poorly written report. The prosecution never once said that Storm wasnt at the house during the murder. KMT
