Farmer arrested for Human Trafficking

Another dent has been made in Jamaica’s fight against Human Trafficking with the arrest and charge of 41-year-old Devon Scott, a farmer of a Kingston 10 address.

Scott, otherwise called Muskilla, who was arrested last Tuesday on charges of of Human Trafficking, Living on the Earnings of Prostitution and Money Laundering.

He is to face the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday.

It is allegations that the police visited a bar in the Kingston 11 area after receiving reports of exotic dancing, Human Trafficking and other sexual activities at the premises.

It’s further alleged that three females including a 16-year-old minor were rescued.

They were deemed to be victims of Human Trafficking.

The females were reportedly recruited through social media and transported to bars in various locations to perform sexual favours for which Scott was paid.

The vehicle that was reportedly used to transport the females was seized by the police and is now the subject of an asset forfeiture and money laundering investigation.

In reacting to the news of Scott’s arrest, Chairman of the National Task Force Against Trafficking in Persons, Carol Palmer, said that there would be no let up in the fight against Trafficking in Persons.
