Dear Pastor,
This is the second time I am writing to you. I wrote to you when I was in my teens, and you gave me good advice.
Now I am 24 years old, and I am in trouble with my boyfriend. I know that you will advise me. My boyfriend does welding. He did some work for a woman.
She gave him a part of the money, and now, she doesn’t want to pay him the rest. He asked me to call her and ask her for his money.
This man is 30 years old. I told him to call her and demand his money. But he said that he was asking me to do it. I called her and explained who I was, and she said that she didn’t owe him any money because they had worked that money out already.
I asked her what she meant by that, and she said I should ask him. She said that the two of them became friends while he was working for her.
She said that she fed him and they became lovers, so she advised me to keep my nose out of lovers’ problems. She asked me if I couldn’t see that he hadn’t called her, and had asked me to call her instead.
Pastor, I can’t believe that my boyfriend could be so simple to work on a woman’s house, to grill up the whole place, and to accept sex as payment.
I told him that he should sue her for his money. He is not denying that he had sex with her. He is only saying that she is a liar because they did not have any arrangement like what she is describe.
Right now, he is not working because he works for himself and things are slow. And every day, I have to feed him.
I don’t mind feeding him because when he has money, he does not hold back in the amount that he would gives to me.
I told him that he was not ‘short of skin’ because I am here for him. So why did he have to seek ‘skin’ from that woman who is much older than himself? My boyfriend is too soft.
Please give me your advice.
B.S.
Dear B.S.,
You said that this man agreed to work for this woman for a certain amount. She gave him a part of the money, and at the end of the work, she should have paid him the rest. That she did not do.
And he has been trying to get his money from her, to no avail. He pressured you to call this woman, but what the woman told you surprised you.
She said that she doesn’t owe him any money and that the two of them had worked that out already. That should not be difficult for you to understand.
Perhaps she gave him lots of sex as payment. Maybe at the time, it was sweet to him, but that really should not compensate for the amount of work he did on her house.
I am just wondering whether in the ‘sweetness’ of things, he told her that she didn’t have to pay him any more money.
That is possible because some people turn into idiots during sex and say things that they shouldn’t say, and later, when they are told about the things that they said, they deny them.
I would say to you, if this man really believes that he has a case, he should sue this woman for his money, but I doubt he will do so. He probably has nothing in writing.
The contract to work on her house might have been verbal, and whatever they did after that was verbal. So, my dear, let your boyfriend fight the battle with this woman.
The woman has already told you to keep out of it, and that is what you should do.
