HAVE NO SILVER OR GOLD
“Then Peter said, Silver and Gold I do not have, but what I do have I give: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6)
When a certain man lame from his mother’s womb saw Peter and John about to enter the temple, he asked them for alms, Peter’s next words “Look at us” (Acts 3:4) tell us a great deal about the beggar. We would expect him to look at the ones from whom he hoped to receive alms. Why did this man not look at Peter and John? Maybe he was so used to being ignored by the people who walked by that he had come to the point of almost ignoring them as well. Or perhaps it was because the man felt so beaten down by life of others that his low self-esteem did not permit him to gaze into the eyes of his benefactors. When Peter said, Look at us, the man looked , hoping to receive something from them like money, however, he must have been disappointed when he heard Peter said , “ I have no silver nor gold, but what I have I will give you.
That is all that any of us can do. It is not possible to give away what we do not have. But all of us have something we can give or share. If not money, then our talents, our time, our gift, our selves. We can share a kind deed, a helping hand, a genuine concern to the less privileged. In that office, in that position you hold, give in your best. As a worker in the church, utilize the gift of God in you and lift the hand of the man of God, the vision which God has bestowed on him. Peter decided to address his primary need, “ In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk”
Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up ( Acts 3:7a), the man needed assurance: he needed the confidence to try. And Peter encouraged him to try by helping him to stand. The man discovered that his feet and ankles were made strong. (verse 7b). He began to walk and then jump and shout. He went into the temple with Peter and John, leaping and praising God. In that hopeless situation you found yourself now, be encouraged because God is always there to answer you. God will lift you up the way Peter did to the beggar in Jesus name.
Prayer:
1 In the name of Jesus, the fire of deliverance, fall upon me, fall upon my foundation, fall upon my children, my marriage Amen
2 Oh Lord, every power responsible for what I am passing through, from father’s side, or mother’s side, from my in-laws side be scattered in Jesus name.
3 By the power of Holy Ghost, you spiritual husband, spiritual wife, strong man and strong woman that have tied me down, manifest and die in Jesus name.
