Four Jamaicans are among 105 foreign nationals who were arrested during a series of operations conducted by the United States (US) Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) across the state of New Jersey last week.
According to ICE, the four include a 48-year-old man who has convictions for conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a weapon.
He was apprehended in the city of New Brunswick.
There was no information on the other Jamaicans.
A statement released by ICE said the operations, which were spearheaded by its Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) office, targeted “at-large criminal aliens, illegal re-entrants and other immigration violators.”
It indicated, too, that of the 105 persons who were arrested during the operation, 80 per cent had prior criminal convictions and/or pending criminal charges.
“These individuals will go through removal proceedings before an Immigration judge or for those under a final order of removal [deportation], arrangements will be made to remove them from the US,” the statement said.
