The police a short while ago confirmed that a prisoner was this morning stabbed to death at the Half-Way-Tree Police lock-up in St Andrew.
He is 41-year-old Omar Nelson.
Nelson was reportedly arrested for housebreaking and larceny.
Reports from the Half-Way-Tree police are that about 7:30 am, Nelson and an inmate were involved in a dispute when a makeshift weapon was used to stab him in the chest. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
