JAMAICAN PRODUCER’S DOCUMENTARY ON TIVOLI WINS BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY AWARD

Jamaican producer, writer, director, Sasha-Gay Lewis won best short documentary at the Los Angeles Film and Script Festival for her piece The Incursion.

The documentary also won an honourable mention award at the Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival on the weekend.

The Incursion is a character-driven documentary that highlights the 2010 government raid on the inner-city community of Tivoli Gardens in Jamaica.

The film provides an affecting account of what happened on May 23, 2010, and the lingering effects on the lives of survivors.

  1. Let me guess, it was told by the poor, victims of tivioli gardens. They told how they have no clue as to why they were raided and that it was heaven that was raided by the evil government.

    Her next documentary sgould be of the dismantling of tivoli gardens.

  2. Normally with films like these Jamaicans gives the info to foreigners and they put whatever they want to put so for a Jamaican national to be recognized at this level is very tremendous Good job Let’s hope and pray Jamaica does not experience this kind of tragedy again .
