Imprisoned dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel will have to wait until July next year before the appeal against his life sentence is heard.
It was scheduled for February 19 next year.However, following a case management hearing on Tuesday, his attorneys requested more time to prepare the appeal.
The hearing is now set to start on July 9.
The matter will be heard over three weeks.
Kartel was convicted along with Kahira Jones, Andre St John, and entertainer Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell in 2014 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
The four were given life sentences.
Kartel will be eligible for parole after 35 years.
Mek him do him time. The unfortunate thing is if he is free I think he will kill again.
Kartel need to stop waste him money on appeal…the lawyers know deep within that the appeal is going nowhere…is all the evidence from the trial going to be thrown out? The answer is NO!
He will get out. It is just a matter of time.
Too many things don’t make sense with this case.
In other countries the case would have been thrown out.
Unless there is enough forensic evidence for matching blood at the so called scene of the act or a vehichle used to dispose the body then it shouldnt be. Even a video footage showing the man being murdered would do.
But just as eyewitness is not enough.
Plus the jury issue is another thing.
Conflict of interest and misconduct, prejudice and other things.
Better they wait for another year that jump into an appeal without covering all angles.
