Another Jamaican has been sent to prison in the US for being involved in the lottery scam.
Andrew Oneil Bowyer, 26, was sentenced in a Louisiana court on Thursday, after previously pleading guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Mail Fraud.
U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier sentenced Bowyer to 78 months incarceration, followed by three years of supervised release. A hearing on restitution is set for October 5.
According to court records, Bowyer and others operated a scheme which scammed elderly persons. The victims were contacted by phone and told to send funds in order to claim lottery winnings.
