THE grandmother of the infant girl who was s*xually assaulted by a man while he recorded it, filed a report with the police on Wednesday night.
The six-year-old child accompanied the grandmother to a police station in the Western Police Division.
The woman told police that she knew the suspect in the crime.
Police said that the family’s neighbours beat the suspect and attempted to hand him over to officers. However he escaped.
He remains at large this afternoon.
The case has been handed over to officers of the Child Protection Unit.
Police have advised the public that anyone caught with pornographic material involving children can be charged with the offence of possession of child pornography.
If found guilty, they can face a fine of $30,000 or up to ten years in prison
