MAN WHO KILLED 19YO JAMAICAN STUDENT GETS LIFE

The man who was convicted for the murder of 19 year old Jamaican student Brandon Lawrence in New Rochelle, Westchester County in New York last year was on Wednesday sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Stivenson Desir, 20, was convicted in February of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Desir murdered Lawrence in April 2016 on a baseball field in New Rochelle. There were three other men with them when a fight broke out and Desir fired three shots, hitting Lawrence.

On Wednesday, the family of the dead Jamaican teenager pleaded desperately to the sentenced man for answers, to which he only responded, “I am truly sorry for your loss…from the bottom of my heart.”

Before handing down the sentence, the judge described Desir’s act as “cold blooded and cowardly”.
