Lawyers for Jamaican superstar Mavado have written to police investigators indicating that the entertainer is willing to meet with detectives, but says the time has to convenient.

The police issued a statement on Tuesday asking the entertainer, whose real name is David Brooks, to report to the Constant Spring Police Station in St Andrew by midday the following day.

“The police believe that Mr. Brooks can assist with an ongoing investigation,” the statement said.

But Mavado’s attorneys Peter Champagnie and Tamika Harris say at the time the statement was issued Mavada was overseas honouring previous contractual obligations.

The attorneys say he is willing to meet with investigators, but has to be mindful of the legal implications if he fails to honour his obligations.

As a result, they requested that investigators agree on a date that the entertainer can make himself available.

The request for Mavado to report to the police came after a series of incidents in the St Andrew community known as Cassava Piece last weekend.

In the first incident, which occurred last Saturday, Mavado was reportedly shot at by a man with whom he had a dispute earlier.

Days later, two men from the community were shot and killed by unknown assailants.
