Another public hospital has started to experience the effects of the crime wave, with conditions worsening as more victims of violent crimes seek treatment.
A day after the Kingston Public Hospital announced that it was only accommodating emergency surgeries because of the high number of crime victims, the May Pen Hospital in Clarendon is about to face a similar situation.
Dr. Bradley Edwards, Senior Medical Officer for the Hospital, has warned that the volume of patients is almost overwhelming, and the trauma has started to take a toll on staff members.
He explained that the frustration from patients often spills over on to staff members, and recent incidents have raised concern for their safety
Dr Edwards outlined the most urgent issues which needs to be addressed at the May Pen Hospital. These include increased bed space in light of the increasing demand on the facilities.
