Dear Met,
I see the destruction unfolding in America and didn’t agree with it at first. However now I’m in similar shoes and seeing from similar lens that maybe darkness will help bring the light.I say this because I saw a mad man walking down Duke street with stones and a machete at times swinging at members of the public. One police car even drove pass and no one in authority to neutralize the threat the mad man posed or get him help at Bellevue.
I hope God forgive me since the Dark thought crossed my mind that 5mins away up the road was Gordon house for our politicians and Supreme Court with our judges was 2mins across the next road. What if that mad man had chop or buss a politician or Judge’s head?Would it help us take mental health more seriously and protect the public better with new laws or enforcing the current ones? The thought quickly passed since I remember this is Jamaica and we don’t do anything proactive, just reactive from ever since.Met look out fi hear him chop one of us working poor but know that nutten nah come outta it cuz again, this is Jamaica!
It was never addressed and never will be. The only time they did anything was back in the 80s for the Queen visit where they scooped them all up put in trucks and deposited them like trash in some remote place far from where the revelries would take place.
This Man Used To Be A Vendor At Town…He Used To Sell Cash For Gold, Chain Etc, He Used To Live In The Now A Market Infront Of Windward Road Taxi Stand Across From Mothers,When They Begun To Build The Market He No Longer Had A Place To Live So I Think That Was How He Became Mad… I See Him On Numerous Occasion To And From Downtown And Before And After He Is Mad.. Yes Since He Is Mad He Always Has Some Form Of Weapons I Always Walk Wide✊Pains Me To See Him This Way Tho Because I Know He Wasn’t Like This… I Think Someone Should Have Him Get His Injections Before He Harms Someone Tho..
Thanks for the back story. Is he mentally ill or just homeless with no place to take baths and care for his hygiene needs?
Is there a homeless shelter system in place in JA? What social services are in place for people who are longterm homeless or who need emergency shelter.
So painful to read your comment. He should get the help he needs because there is still hope. Love can heal him completely.
