MORE ILLEGAL GUNS FOUND IN ST JAMES THAN LAST YEAR

Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson has said 73 illegal firearms have been seized in St. James since the imposition of the State of Emergency.

This is up from 63 during the same period last year.

General Anderson said the police have also recovered three times the amount of ammunition than they during the same period last year.

“At this time last year, we’ve recovered 1,500. This year, we’ve recovered 4,500 rounds; and this is indicative of a lot of the work being done under the ambit of other police work being done under the ambit of states of emergency, including community interventions, building out our intelligence network and including the investigations that are being done,” he revealed.

He said the police have received a several convictions for gun offences
